For those of you joining us late, here is some info about this thread.
1. This is to do our least part to the core IV Team for their selfless sacrifice, for all of us getting the benefits of legal immigration. Note that , Aman Kapoor , the co-founder of IV has done his part by sacrificing $64,000/- from his own personal funds towards the administrative costs of IV. Yes you read it right , it is $64,000/- We come to know from his co-worker that he has sold his house towards running this show for us.
2. We have not yet figured out a way to reimburse these costs as IV does not yet have administrative costs part of the expenditure allocation, as we understand it. So instead of a wait and watch, we decided to go ahead with collecting the pledge from the members on the amount they are putting forth for reimbursing the amount. Once we come up with a strategy(members we look for your suggestions on how to get this done, please add your comments) we will instruct the members pledged to pay out.
So do not pay it directly to the IV core funds, yet.
Please help us spread the message about this thread in other threads by copy and pasting the following in other threads too.
There is a funding drive in this other thread towards reimbursing Aman and other core IV member's expenses towards the administrative costs of IV.

I have mailed my I-485/EAD/I-131 on July 26th and same were received at NSC on July 27th. I did get the receipt numbers for all the same yesterday. The receipt date is Aug 27th, 2007. I did have an TSC I140.

Your case is similiar to mine. Just curious did you get TSC or NSC numbers.
I think TSC nos start with SRC and NSC is LIN.

If we see the history H1B and GC numbers were never increased except 2004 20k inpast 15 years In 2000 it was increasd temporarlily for 4 years.Also EB numbers were never increased except temporary reliefs.If it is increased by Skill bill in current form that is really an acheivement. If there is a possiblity they may increase H1B because that is temorary visa(But in reallity not) and GC numbers may remain same. But if increased to 115k then also cap will be reached in another 1 month because there are more number of Desi companies than number of H1Bs. Thats why they are asking exemptions for MS people and 20% adjustment for every year. We have to wait and see whether congress fall on this trap to do this without analysing the impact.

I think this is an unexplored point. Thanks for bringing it up guys.
I think IV needs to hire a good immigration attorney. May be IV can start a new funding drive to see, if members are really interested this hiring an attorney. The same attorney also can help us by answering our questions.

We are collecting pledges to file a lawsuit against USICS against these random and opaque processing of GC's. Our target is to get 1000 affected people to pledge atlaset $100 each so that we can fund this lawsuit. No money being collected right now..just honest pledges.

I just read first page of this thread and would advice that don't follow most of reply because they are lawyers or they have not gone through the experience you are going through. $4000 may not be big amount compared to hassle of law suite , piece of mind or the amount of increase you may have received by switching employer. I know a close person who had gone through exactly same situation in NJ and had to pay 12,000 to settle the case. I have seen bunch of people in same situation and my friend always adviced them to stay away from law suite. If your current employer is not big then there are greater chances that it will turn away from you in case of law suite.
If you are not working with same client that you were working when you were in company A then non-compete may not hold against you.
Also can you get in writing from you current employer that they will support you in case of law suite?

Some of the desi employers are so greedy and unethical that even after you slog with them for years, they still want to hold on to something just to prove they are employer/boss. This is a lesson for people wanting to help their employers business. I would tell them that it is none of their business to help their employer�s business.

I think INS or BCCS director have authority to make this provision for filing I-485 when dates are not current.This will atleast relieve many of us and our spouses/dependants from current uncertain situation.
Can we all concentrate on this and take one at a time.
What do we all have to do toward the efforts on this?

but she's right. the US immigration law is extremely detailed and totally unforgiving. the country quotas being applied to employment visas looks like some lawyer gone overboard with putting constraints while writing the law, but now it is the law, and they don't change laws here unless there are votes or lot of money involved.
