Well guys...
I agree that India is a land of pollution - polluted air and polluted minds (corruption, jealousy, materialistic attitude), it is still a very native part of our life. No matter where we live on this planet, whatever hapens in India, we do get affected by it.
I just visited India after 7 years. As far as India goes, I love:
-- My parents living there, perhaps they will never come to USA to stay with me permanently, and
-- The school kids I see on road in their school uniform, waiting for their school vans or walking as a group, making jokes and laughing out of their breath.
I always wonder that they do not know what hardhsip lies ahead of them, when they grow up after finishing their school - competition to get college admission, studies, competitive jobs, corruption, ever rising cost of living, etc. etc.
Most of my old friends in India have gone too busy in making money and 'rising on the top". It is as if they are in some kind of a race in panic, so they don't get left behind everybody else and what not.
What does "rising on the top" mean anyway? Whom are you collecting money for?
I recently bought the latest Samsung 3D LED TV to have a better movie experience. And I noticed that I enjoyed movies on small 22" inch TV more than I enjoy on a big LED TV - provided the movie is good and I have a good company.
So my friend (who is leaving for India)...
You can find happiness and joy in little things in life, irrespective of where you are staying. These commodities are not exclusively sold in India or anywhere else.
If you have made a decision to move to India, be proud of it and do it! Just set a good example in india and don't get involved in the dirty corrupted cycles there.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin. I landed in Ca in Jan 08. my 485 pending. I had expired h1 when landing. I went for h1 stamping in Toronto during the trip. at the consulate you have to disclose you status in Ca. I told I just landed yesterday, and the officer congratulated me, and I got h1 renewed for 3 years (my h1 was renewed after my I140 was approved, but before I applied for 485 - so 3 yrs extn).
at the windsor border (drove by car), I even disclosed to guy that I landed in Ca. He did not say anything, but just asked to show my vehicle registration. Also he asked if I don't have to then live in Ca, I told him it's not necessary until after 3 years to maintian my residency there. He said Ok and let me in.
again it's better not to lie about you Ca pr, coz there's the landing stamp on your pp, even if you removed the document stapled on your pp.
again i've been to Ca twice since landing (with the doc staped on my pp). no problem re-enterin US.

My H1b Extention got approved from Vermont center yesterday.
First 3 year extention filled on July 10th 2008 .
Approval notice sent Email : Aug 27th 2008.
GC Details : PD Jan 2008
I 140 Appoval date : July 31st 2008.
No RFE in h1b extention. One more exp at NJ DMV..
My NJ DL was expiring in Sep 2008 . My visa was expiring in Nov 2008. ( Stamp and I 797 ).

it was smooth process and took 1 hour to get it renew.

There is a mistake in the vb for Oct 2009 for Eb3 . Please look at the mumbai consulate it shows Eb3 -I cutoff date is 22 feb 2002.
Cut Off Dates- Consulate General of the United States Mumbai, India (http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/cut_off_dates.html). Can anyone verify the problem .
Mistake seems to be at the Mumbai site. They seem to have copied E3-I dates from the China column of the original VB. Perhaps they will correct it quickly. On the optimistic note, we can hope that error is in the published VB, not at Mumbai site.

My attorney told me that they sent my case to USCIS through FEDEX overnight on 6th June. My check is not cleared from my bank yet. I am concerned about my RD. Any idea?
