Did anyone do their landing recently, after filing their 485?
Just want to see what kind of question they were askied coming back to USA.
I am planning to do landing sometime in March. Have a valid H-1B stamp and want to do my landing before my H-1B stamp expires.
Can anyone let me know what should i be expecting?

What about the applications received before release of bulletin?
When DOS doesnt have a Immigrant Visa available , its just not available.
DOS made it effective 2nd ,
"Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference cases. All numbers available to these categories under the FY-2007 annual numerical limitation have been made available. "
USCIS by law cant accept any applications effective 2nd.
People whoes H1B applications were accepted on first day and then were rejected , Can they have done something?

We need the legislature intervention to make the limit higher.

Done. It correctly showed the representitive and the senators. But I am not sure it went. Particularly the screen of advacacy to send mail to 6 frineds kept on coming up. If I don't receive confirmations to my account, I will send once again. Or I will call them also.

I am seeing lot of ads in Dice that only citizens are need to apply. If that is a racism many companies would have been in trouble. If you are really sure that they are violating law you can apply for those positions and sue them as affected person. You may get millions of dollars if court finds that there is a racism in selection. I think if they eliminate particular group in US citizens(If they eliminate Indian origin or Chinese origin Citizens inspite of similar skills ) then that is a racism.
There have been quite a number of job positions restricting specific communities. This contradicts with the EEO. Its high time these are being highlighted...

What I did till now.
1) Contacted Senator/Congressman/Governor
2) Filled 7001 form for Ombudsman
3) Called USCIS 10 times in last 10 days and come to know that everything is cleared on my and wife applications.
4) Strange thing applied EAD on July 15th 2008 and got approved today august 12 2008.

Does this mean, if someone has never done FP for 485, will need to do it now for EAD even if it is paper based?

Exactly! And thanks for clarifying that, which is what I've been trying to convey for the past 2 days! In your cook example, though, the cook can be self-employed with no income in a given period (week/month)--and he does not need to line up contracts. His business is "legitimate" and is in the same occupation as on his I140 petition. For an RFE-EVL, which he can write on his business "letterhead," all he needs to mention is his "projected" yearly income as salary.
USCIS may not buy if no income shown thro the bussiness. One may have a simple bussiness model. However, they should be in a position to show documentary evidence that they are making similar money as per 140, and importantly they are doing same kind of work when self employed, and they have a long term commitment/contract for their bussiness. Then only they may belief that you are doing legitimate bussiness thro self employment. Just writing EVL in a letter head will not serve the purpose.

This puts the applicant helpless after waiting for so may years and when the dates are current. Can USCIS do something about this? The only thing what most applicants have paystubs to prove the continuous employment.
It will make a different if USCIS receives emails like this... in thousands?
Please note that it is employer's choice to continue GC processing or not. By not giving future open job offer letter, they may not be doing anything legally wrong. It is employer's choice to continue with GC or not. remember, Employer can cancel or revoke I-140 ANYTIME until I-485 is approved.
Employee is just a beneficiary and can not claim right to file I-485 just because I-140 is approved or pending.

EAD Receipt # is different from i485 Receipt #. What i know though is that i485 receipting is a pre-requisite of EAD receipting.

Most of the desi employers in this country have gone thru the same H1B and GC process and got all bad experience. BUT when they start their own company, MOST OF THEM (NOT ALL OF THEM) do the same..... Employer should treat employees, the same way they are expecting to be treated as an employee.. In a long run, Employers with good ethics and practices makes more money and reputation.. The releationship goes longer only if employer and employee both benefits from it.. Isn't it simple to understand and put it into the practice ?

Section 205. Retaining Workers Subject to Green Card Backlog.
* Allows foreign workers who have started the green card process, but who are subject to green card backlogs, to pay a $500.00 supplemental fee to file an application to adjust status. This change would enable foreign workers to remain in the U.S. until the green card becomes available.
